Preparation

  • Preheat your air fryer to 375°F (190°C).
  • Wash and dry the apples thoroughly. Core and cut them into evenly sized wedges.
  • In a bowl, mix the flour, cinnamon, nutmeg, and sugar (if using) to create your dry mix.
  • In another bowl, whisk the eggs until well combined.
  • Place the breadcrumbs in a third bowl.
  • Coat each apple slice with the flour mixture, shaking off any excess.
  • Dip the apple slice into the beaten eggs, allowing excess to drip off.
  • Coat the apple slice with breadcrumbs and press gently to adhere.

Cooking

  • Arrange the apple fries in a single layer in the air fryer basket. Spray with cooking spray or drizzle lightly with oil.
  • Cook for about 8-10 minutes or until golden brown and crispy, shaking the basket halfway through.
  • Transfer the apple fries to a plate and serve warm.

Notes

For a fun serving option, garnish with powdered sugar or cinnamon and offer various dips like caramel or yogurt. To store, place cooled apple fries in an airtight container for up to three days; reheat in the air fryer.
