Air Fryer Bang Bang Shrimp

Ingredients
  

For the shrimp

  • 1 pound large shrimp, peeled and deveined
  • 1 cup buttermilk for marinating
  • 1 cup all-purpose flour
  • 1 cup panko breadcrumbs
  • 1 teaspoon garlic powder
  • 1 teaspoon paprika
  • to taste Salt and pepper
  • 1 tablespoon olive oil for spraying the air fryer basket

For the Bang Bang Sauce

  • 1/2 cup mayonnaise
  • 2 tablespoons sweet chili sauce
  • 1 tablespoon sriracha adjust to taste
  • 1 teaspoon lime juice

Instructions
 

Preparation

  • Marinate the shrimp in buttermilk for at least 30 minutes.
  • In one bowl, combine flour, garlic powder, paprika, salt, and pepper.
  • In another bowl, place panko breadcrumbs.
  • Remove shrimp from buttermilk and let excess drip off.
  • Coat each shrimp first in the flour mixture, then in the panko breadcrumbs.

Cooking

  • Preheat the air fryer to 400°F (200°C) for about 5 minutes.
  • Spray the air fryer basket lightly with olive oil.
  • Place the breaded shrimp in a single layer in the basket.
  • Air fry the shrimp for 8-10 minutes, flipping halfway through, until golden brown and crispy.

Finishing Touch

  • Prepare the Bang Bang sauce by mixing mayonnaise, sweet chili sauce, sriracha, and lime juice until smooth.
  • Once the shrimp are done, remove them from the air fryer and toss them in the Bang Bang sauce.
  • Serve immediately for best texture and flavor.

Notes

Serve with a drizzle of additional Bang Bang sauce and garnish with sliced green onions or fresh cilantro. Pair with steamed rice or a crisp salad.
