  • 4 pieces bone-in chicken thighs or breasts Choose bone-in, skin-on for maximum flavor.
  • 1 teaspoon garlic powder
  • 1 teaspoon onion powder
  • 1 teaspoon smoked paprika
  • 1 teaspoon black pepper
  • 1 teaspoon salt
  • 1 cup favorite BBQ sauce Customize based on your taste.
  • Olive oil spray olive oil spray For preventing sticking.

Preparation

  • Preheat your air fryer to 380°F (193°C) for about 5 minutes.
  • Pat the chicken pieces dry with paper towels.
  • In a small bowl, mix together garlic powder, onion powder, smoked paprika, black pepper, and salt.
  • Rub the spice mixture evenly over the chicken on all sides.

Cooking

  • Lightly spray the air fryer basket with olive oil.
  • Place the chicken pieces in the basket in a single layer.
  • Cook the chicken for 10 minutes.
  • After 10 minutes, brush a generous layer of BBQ sauce over each piece.
  • Cook for an additional 5 minutes, then check internal temperature (should reach 165°F/74°C).
  • If not fully cooked, return to the air fryer for another 2-3 minutes.
  • Remove the chicken and let it rest for a few minutes before serving.

Notes

Serve with coleslaw, potato salad, or grilled vegetables. Letting the chicken rest allows juices to redistribute.
