  • 1 pound fresh okra, trimmed and halved Choose vibrant, firm pods.
  • 2 tablespoons olive oil
  • 1 teaspoon garlic powder
  • 1 teaspoon onion powder
  • 1 teaspoon smoked paprika
  • ½ teaspoon salt
  • ½ teaspoon black pepper
  • ¼ teaspoon cayenne pepper (optional) Add for heat if desired.

Preparation

  • Wash the okra under cold water. Trim the ends and slice the okra in half lengthwise.
  • In a large bowl, combine the trimmed okra with olive oil, garlic powder, onion powder, smoked paprika, salt, black pepper, and cayenne pepper if using. Toss until the okra is well-coated.

Cooking

  • Preheat your air fryer to 400°F (200°C) for about 5 minutes.
  • Once preheated, place the okra in the air fryer basket in a single layer. Cook in batches if necessary to avoid overcrowding.
  • Cook the okra for 10-12 minutes, shaking the basket halfway through to ensure even cooking. The okra should be tender and crispy.
  • Carefully remove the okra from the air fryer and serve immediately.

Notes

For serving, pair with dipping sauce or serve as a side dish. Store leftovers in an airtight container for up to 3 days in the refrigerator. Reheat in air fryer for optimal crispiness.
