  • 1 can 15 ounces of chickpeas (garbanzo beans)
  • 2 tablespoons olive oil
  • 1 teaspoon garlic powder
  • 1 teaspoon smoked paprika
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt
  • 1/4 teaspoon black pepper
  • 1 pinch cayenne pepper (optional) for heat
  • to taste fresh parsley or cilantro (optional) for garnish

Instructions
 

Preparation

  • Drain and rinse the chickpeas under cold water. Pat them dry using a clean kitchen towel or paper towels.
  • In a large mixing bowl, add the dry chickpeas, olive oil, garlic powder, smoked paprika, salt, black pepper, and cayenne pepper if desired. Toss everything until the chickpeas are evenly coated.
  • Preheat your air fryer to 390°F (200°C) for about 3 to 5 minutes.

Cooking

  • Add the seasoned chickpeas to the air fryer basket in a single layer for even cooking.
  • Cook the chickpeas for 12 to 15 minutes, shaking the basket halfway through to ensure they cook evenly.
  • Once golden brown and crispy, remove the basket and let the chickpeas cool for a few minutes.

Serving

  • Optionally, garnish with chopped fresh herbs before serving.

Notes

Ensure chickpeas are completely dry after rinsing for maximum crunch. Experiment with different spices to customize the flavor. Store in an airtight container to keep crispy, and re-crisp in the air fryer if needed.
