Preparation

  • Start by cleaning the mushrooms. Wipe them with a damp cloth or paper towel to remove any dirt and debris.
  • Slice the mushrooms evenly for consistent cooking.
  • In a large bowl, combine the olive oil, garlic powder, onion powder, smoked paprika, dried thyme, salt, and pepper. Stir until you create a smooth mixture.
  • Add the mushrooms to the bowl, tossing them well to ensure they are evenly coated with the oil and seasonings.
  • Preheat your air fryer to 400°F (200°C) for about 5 minutes.
  • Once preheated, arrange the mushrooms in the air fryer basket in a single layer. You may need to cook them in batches to avoid overcrowding.

Cooking

  • Cook the mushrooms for approximately 10-12 minutes, shaking the basket halfway through to promote even cooking.
  • After cooking, check for doneness. The mushrooms should be golden brown and slightly crispy. If needed, cook for an additional 2-3 minutes.
  • Once done, remove the mushrooms from the air fryer and let them cool for a few minutes before serving.

Notes

Serve mushrooms as a side dish, topping for pizzas, or as a snack. Experiment with herbs and spices for flavor variations. Store leftover mushrooms in an airtight container in the refrigerator for up to three days.
