  • 2 1/4 cups all-purpose flour
  • 1/2 teaspoon baking soda

Wet Ingredients

  • 1 cup unsalted butter, room temperature Ensure butter is at room temperature for best results.
  • 1/2 cup granulated sugar
  • 1 cup packed brown sugar

Instructions
 

Preparation

  • Preheat the oven to 350°F (175°C).
  • In a bowl, combine the flour and baking soda; set aside.
  • In a large bowl, cream the butter, granulated sugar, and brown sugar until smooth.
  • Beat in eggs one at a time, then stir in the vanilla.
  • Gradually blend the dry ingredients into the wet mixture.
  • Stir in chocolate chips (if applicable).

Baking

  • Drop by rounded tablespoon onto ungreased cookie sheets.
  • Bake for 9 to 11 minutes or until edges are nicely golden.

Notes

Experiment with different types of chocolate chips or add nuts for variation. Enjoy warm or store in an airtight container for later!
