Preparation

  • Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C).
  • In a bowl, whisk together flour and baking soda. Set aside.
  • In another bowl, cream together the unsalted butter, granulated sugar, and brown sugar until smooth.
  • Add eggs one at a time, mixing well after each addition.
  • Gradually blend in the dry ingredients.
  • Fold in chocolate chips or nuts if desired.

Baking

  • Drop rounded tablespoonfuls of dough onto ungreased baking sheets.
  • Bake in preheated oven for 9 to 11 minutes, or until golden brown.
  • Allow cookies to cool on baking sheets for a few minutes before transferring to wire racks.
