Ingredients

  • 1 tsp baking soda
  • 1/2 tsp salt

Wet Ingredients

  • 3/4 cup unsalted butter, softened Ensure at room temperature.
  • 1 cup brown sugar, packed
  • 1/2 cup granulated sugar
  • 1 tsp vanilla extract
  • 2 large eggs

Mix-ins

  • 2 cups chocolate chips Can use a combination of different types.
  • 1 cup chopped nuts (optional) Walnuts or pecans for added crunch.

Instructions
 

Preparation

  • Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C).
  • In a medium bowl, whisk together the flour, baking soda, and salt.
  • In a large bowl, cream together the softened butter, brown sugar, and granulated sugar using an electric mixer until light and fluffy.
  • Add the eggs one at a time, ensuring each is fully incorporated. Mix in the vanilla extract.
  • Gradually add the dry ingredients into the wet mixture, stirring until just combined.
  • Fold in the chocolate chips and any optional mix-ins.
  • Grease a 13x9 inch baking pan or line it with parchment paper.

Baking

  • Spread the cookie dough evenly in the prepared pan.
  • Bake in the preheated oven for 20-25 minutes, until the edges are golden brown.
  • Allow the cookies to cool in the pan for about 10 minutes before transferring to a wire rack.

Notes

For a richer flavor, mix semi-sweet and dark chocolate chips. Store cookies in an airtight container with parchment between layers to prevent sticking. Cookies can be frozen for up to three months.
