Ingredients

Dry Ingredients

  • 2 3/4 cups all-purpose flour
  • 1 teaspoon baking soda
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt

Wet Ingredients

  • 1 cup unsalted butter, softened
  • 1 1/2 cups granulated sugar
  • 1 cup packed brown sugar
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • 2 large eggs

Mix-ins

  • 2 cups chocolate chips (or your choice of mix-ins)
  • 1/2 cup chopped nuts (optional)
  • Holiday-themed sprinkles (optional)

Instructions

Preparation

  • Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C). Line cookie sheets with parchment paper or silicone baking mats.
  • In a medium bowl, whisk together the flour, baking soda, and salt. Set aside.
  • In a large bowl, cream the softened butter, granulated sugar, and brown sugar together until light and fluffy, about 3 to 4 minutes.
  • Add the vanilla extract and eggs to the butter mixture, beating well until combined.
  • Gradually mix in the flour mixture until just combined. Be careful not to overmix.
  • Gently fold in chocolate chips and nuts (if using).

Baking

  • Using a cookie scoop or tablespoon, drop mounds of dough onto the prepared baking sheets, spacing them adequately.
  • Bake in the preheated oven for 10 to 12 minutes, or until the edges are golden brown while the centers look slightly undercooked.
  • Remove from the oven and let the cookies cool on the baking sheet for a few minutes before transferring to wire racks to cool completely.

Notes

For the best results, measure ingredients accurately and ensure butter is at room temperature for better mixing.
