Cookie Base Ingredients

  • 1 cup unsalted butter, softened
  • 1 cup brown sugar, packed
  • 1/2 cup granulated sugar
  • 2 large eggs
  • 2 teaspoons vanilla extract
  • 3 cups all-purpose flour
  • 1 teaspoon baking soda
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt
  • 1 tablespoon ground cinnamon
  • 2 cups chocolate chips
  • 1/2 cup chopped nuts (optional) Use nuts like walnuts or pecans

Instructions
 

Preparation

  • Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C) and line baking sheets with parchment paper.
  • In a large bowl, cream together the softened butter, brown sugar, and granulated sugar until light and fluffy.
  • Beat in the eggs, one at a time, followed by the vanilla extract.
  • In another bowl, whisk together the flour, baking soda, salt, and ground cinnamon.
  • Gradually add the dry ingredients to the wet mixture, stirring until just combined.
  • Fold in the chocolate chips and chopped nuts, if using.
  • Scoop tablespoon-sized portions of dough onto the prepared baking sheets, leaving space between each cookie.

Baking

  • Bake for 10-12 minutes or until the edges are lightly golden and the centers have set.
  • Allow the cookies to cool on the baking sheet for a few minutes before transferring them to a wire rack to cool completely.

Notes

Serve warm with a glass of milk or dust with powdered sugar for a festive presentation. Cookies can also be used for ice cream sandwiches.
