  • 3 pieces ripe avocados Choose avocados that yield slightly when pressed.
  • 1 pieces lime (juiced) Fresh lime juice is preferred.
  • 1 small red onion (finely chopped) Adjust amount according to taste.
  • 1 pieces tomato (seeded and chopped) Remove seeds to avoid watery guacamole.
  • 1 pieces jalapeño pepper (seeded and minced, optional) For added spice.
  • 1 clove garlic (minced) Fresh garlic adds flavor.
  • to taste Salt Adjust to preference.
  • to taste Fresh cilantro (chopped, optional) For garnish and flavor.

Preparation

  • Slice the avocados in half and remove the pit. Scoop the flesh into a mixing bowl.
  • Mash the avocado with a fork or potato masher until desired creaminess is achieved.
  • Add the lime juice immediately to help prevent browning.
  • Stir in the chopped red onion, tomato, jalapeño, garlic, and salt. Mix gently until well combined.
  • Taste and adjust the seasoning if necessary.
  • If using cilantro, add it at the end and give the mixture a final stir.
  • Let the guacamole sit for about 10 minutes before serving to enhance flavors.

Notes

Serve guacamole in a bowl lined with lettuce leaves and with tortilla chips on the side. It can also be used as a topping on grilled chicken or fish, or as spread on toast.
