  • 2 pieces boneless, skinless chicken breasts Pat dry before coating
  • 1 cup breadcrumbs Whole wheat or gluten-free optional
  • 1/2 cup grated Parmesan cheese
  • 1 cup marinara sauce For topping
  • 1 cup shredded mozzarella cheese For topping
  • 1 teaspoon garlic powder
  • 1 teaspoon Italian seasoning
  • to taste Salt and pepper
  • as needed spray Olive oil spray For coating

Preparation

  • Preheat your air fryer to 400°F (200°C).
  • In a shallow bowl, mix the breadcrumbs, grated Parmesan cheese, garlic powder, Italian seasoning, salt, and pepper.
  • Pat chicken breasts dry with a paper towel.
  • Lightly spray the chicken breasts with olive oil.
  • Coat each piece of chicken with the breadcrumb mixture.
  • Place the coated chicken in the air fryer basket in a single layer.

Cooking

  • Air fry the chicken for about 10 minutes.
  • Flip the chicken breasts over gently, then spoon marinara sauce over each piece and top with mozzarella cheese.
  • Air fry for an additional 5 to 7 minutes until the cheese is melted and the chicken reaches an internal temperature of 165°F (75°C).

Serving

  • Serve immediately, enjoying the delightful cheese and marinara.

Notes

For a healthier version, consider variations like using zucchini slices instead of chicken, or using homemade marinara for a fresher taste. Store leftovers in an airtight container for up to 3 days.
