  • 1 teaspoon garlic powder
  • 1 teaspoon paprika
  • ½ teaspoon salt
  • ½ teaspoon black pepper
  • ¼ teaspoon cayenne pepper (optional for heat)
  • 1 teaspoon dried herbs (such as thyme or oregano)

Preparation

  • Begin by preheating your air fryer to 400°F (200°C) for about five minutes.
  • While the air fryer heats, drain and rinse the chickpeas thoroughly. Pat them dry using a clean kitchen towel or paper towels to remove any excess moisture.
  • In a medium bowl, combine the dried chickpeas with olive oil, garlic powder, paprika, salt, black pepper, and cayenne pepper, if using. Toss until the chickpeas are evenly coated.

Cooking

  • Once the air fryer is hot, place the seasoned chickpeas in the air fryer basket in a single layer.
  • Air fry the chickpeas for approximately 15 to 20 minutes, shaking the basket halfway through.
  • Keep an eye on them in the last few minutes to prevent burning.
  • When the chickpeas are golden brown and crunchy, carefully remove them from the air fryer and let them cool slightly before serving.

Notes

To maximize crunch, ensure chickpeas are dried thoroughly. Experiment with various spices or seasonings for unique flavors. Store in an airtight container to maintain freshness.
