Ingredients
  

Cookie Base

  • 1 cup unsalted butter, softened Ensure butter is truly softened, not melted.
  • 1 cup granulated sugar
  • 1 large egg yolk
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • 2 cups all-purpose flour
  • 1/4 teaspoon salt

Jam Filling

  • 1 cup fruit jam or preserves Any flavor of your choice.

Instructions
 

Preparation

  • Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C) and line a baking sheet with parchment paper.
  • In a large mixing bowl, cream together the softened butter and granulated sugar until light and fluffy.
  • Add the egg yolk and vanilla extract to the mixture and blend well.
  • Gradually incorporate the all-purpose flour and salt, mixing until a soft dough forms.
  • Take small portions of dough, about 1 inch in diameter, and roll them into balls.
  • Place the balls on the prepared baking sheet, leaving space between each one.
  • With your thumb or the back of a spoon, create a small indentation in the center of each dough ball.
  • Fill each indentation with your chosen fruit jam or preserve.

Baking

  • Bake in the preheated oven for approximately 12-15 minutes, or until the edges turn lightly golden.
  • Remove the baking sheet from the oven and let the cookies cool completely before transferring them to a wire rack.

Notes

Serve cookies with warm beverages like tea or coffee. They can be garnished with powdered sugar for special occasions. Store in an airtight container for up to a week or freeze for up to three months.
