  • 1 box box cake mix (vanilla or white) Choose your preferred flavor.
  • 1 package orange gelatin
  • 1 cup boiling water To dissolve the gelatin.
  • 1 cup cold water To cool down the gelatin mixture.
  • 1 cup orange sherbet For topping.

Whipped Cream Topping

  • 1 cup heavy cream For whipping.
  • 1/2 cup powdered sugar To sweeten the cream.
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract For flavor.

Optional Garnish

  • orange slices For decoration.

Preparation

  • Preheat your oven according to the instructions on your box of cake mix. Grease a 9x13 inch baking pan lightly.
  • In a large mixing bowl, prepare the cake batter as directed on the package. Pour the batter into your prepared pan, spreading it evenly.
  • Bake the cake for 25 to 30 minutes or until golden brown. Test for doneness with a toothpick; it should come out clean.
  • While the cake bakes, prepare the orange gelatin by mixing it with 1 cup of boiling water until dissolved, then add cold water and let it cool.

Assembly

  • Once the cake has finished baking, allow it to cool for about 10 minutes. Poke holes in the top with a fork.
  • Pour the cooled gelatin mixture over the cake, ensuring it seeps into the holes.
  • Allow the cake to cool completely at room temperature and then refrigerate for at least 4 hours.
  • Whip together 1 cup heavy cream, 1/2 cup powdered sugar, and 1 teaspoon vanilla extract until soft peaks form. Spread the whipped cream over the chilled cake.
  • Top with scoops of orange sherbet and garnish with orange slices.

Serving

  • Slice and serve chilled best to enjoy the blend of creamy and tangy flavors.

Notes

For best results, chill overnight for enhanced flavors. Can store in the refrigerator for up to 5 days. Avoid freezing for best texture.
