Preparation

  • Preheat the oven to 350°F (175°C).
  • In a large bowl, cream together the softened butter and granulated sugar until light and fluffy.
  • Beat in the egg and vanilla extract until well combined.
  • In another bowl, whisk together the all-purpose flour, baking powder, and baking soda.
  • Gradually mix the dry ingredients into the wet ingredients until just combined.
  • Scoop tablespoon-sized portions of dough onto ungreased baking sheets, spacing them about 2 inches apart.
  • Bake in the preheated oven for 8-10 minutes, or until lightly golden around the edges.
  • Remove from the oven and allow to cool on the baking sheets for a few minutes before transferring to wire racks to cool completely.
