  • 1 box chocolate cake mix Any brand of chocolate cake mix will work.
  • 2 large eggs, whisked Ensure eggs are at room temperature for better mixing.
  • 1/3 cup oil Can use vegetable or canola oil.
  • 1/2 cup butter, softened Do not melt the butter, just soften it.
  • 2 tablespoons cocoa powder Use unsweetened cocoa powder for best results.
  • 3 tablespoons milk Adds moisture to the cookie dough.

Frosting Ingredients

  • 2 1/2 cups powdered sugar Add more for a thicker frosting.
  • 3 tablespoons milk Use as needed to achieve desired consistency.
  • 1 tablespoon cocoa powder Optional, for a chocolate frosting.

Instructions
 

Preparation

  • Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C).
  • In a large mixing bowl, combine the chocolate cake mix, whisked eggs, and oil.
  • Mix until fully blended to create a rich base for the cookies.
  • Melt the softened butter in a microwave-safe bowl and stir in the cocoa powder until smooth.
  • Add the melted butter mixture to the cake mix dough and mix well.
  • Gradually incorporate the milk until the dough is smooth and slightly sticky.

Baking

  • Spoon or scoop the dough onto a baking sheet lined with parchment paper, leaving space between each cookie.
  • Bake for 10-12 minutes until edges are set but centers remain soft.

Frosting

  • While cookies are slightly warm, frost them with a mixture of powdered sugar, milk, and cocoa until smooth and creamy.
  • Allow to cool completely before serving.

Notes

Store leftovers in an airtight container at room temperature. For variations, add chocolate chips or nuts; use cream cheese frosting instead of the sugar glaze.
