Cookie Base

  • 1 cup unsalted butter, at room temperature Ensure butter is at room temperature for proper mixing.
  • 1.5 cups granulated sugar This adds sweetness to the cookies.
  • 2 large eggs, at room temperature Bring eggs to room temperature for better mixing.
  • 1 teaspoon pure vanilla extract For flavor enhancement.
  • 3.5 cups all-purpose flour Make sure to spoon into measuring cup for accuracy.
  • 0.5 teaspoon baking soda Helps cookies rise.
  • 0.5 teaspoon cream of tartar Adds stability and softness.
  • 0.25 teaspoon salt Enhances flavor.

Decorations

  • 0.5 cup sprinkles To fold into the dough and for decoration.
  • 3 colors Gel colors (Pink, Royal Blue, and Violet) For tinting the cookie dough.

Instructions
 

Preparation

  • Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C) and line a cookie sheet with parchment paper.
  • In a mixing bowl, cream the unsalted butter and granulated sugar together until light and fluffy, about 3-5 minutes.
  • Add the eggs one at a time, mixing thoroughly after each addition. Stir in the vanilla extract.
  • In another bowl, whisk together the flour, baking soda, cream of tartar, and salt.
  • Gradually add the dry mixture to the butter mixture, stirring gently until just combined. Fold in the sprinkles.

Color Mixing

  • Divide the dough into three equal portions and tint each with one of the gel colors to create a marbled effect. Be careful not to over-mix.

Baking

  • Scoop out balls of dough and roll them in additional sugar or sprinkles. Place them on the prepared cookie sheet.
  • Bake in the preheated oven for 10-12 minutes, until the edges are lightly golden.
  • Allow cookies to cool on the sheet for a couple of minutes, then transfer to a wire rack to cool completely.

Notes

For best results, chill the dough for 20-30 minutes if it feels too soft. Store cookies in an airtight container for up to a week, or freeze for three months.
